Post-landslide remediation in Malaysia.
Emergency mobilization in 2-5 days. Phased remediation, drainage + erosion control immediately, structural rebuild over the following weeks and months. CIDB G7. ISO 9001:2015. Delivered on highway, rail, hillside, and government slope-failure programmes for JKR, LLM, MOW, KKR.
From emergency to durable rebuild.
Phase 1: Emergency stabilisation (days)
Horizontal drains for immediate stability gain. Surface erosion control. Temporary slope-toe protection. Site safety + traffic management. Mobilization 2-5 days from authorisation.
Phase 2: Investigation + design (weeks)
Geotechnical investigation: boreholes, piezometers, inclinometers, slope-stability analysis. Remedial design with the appointed C&S or geotechnical consultant.
Phase 3: Structural remediation (months)
Soil nailing, retaining wall reconstruction, surface protection (guniting), permanent drainage. Phased to maintain access and safety throughout.
Phase 4: Monitoring (ongoing)
Piezometers, inclinometers, surface markers verify the remediation works. Hand-over with monitoring plan; ongoing inspection contracts available.
Where post-landslide remediation is most needed.
Highway corridor failures
Post-monsoon slope failures on federal expressway and trunk-road cuts. Live-traffic constraints, regulatory pressure, and time-critical reopening.
Hillside development distress
Hillside townships in Klang Valley, Penang island, and highland resorts. Often Class III/IV slope category remedial directives.
Rail corridor and infrastructure
Federal rail alignment slope distress requiring durable remediation under ongoing service.
Plantation and rural slope failures
Estate access roads and rural state roads through East Malaysian and East Coast interior.
Authorities and consultants usually ask:

From active failure to handover.
Emergency stabilization (24-72 hr)
Halt the active mechanism. Tarp the head scarp to stop infiltration. Install temporary horizontal drains to relieve pore pressure. Cordon and signage. Photo record + drone survey for documentation.
Diagnosis (1-2 weeks)
Inclinometer + piezometer to confirm slip surface depth and groundwater condition. Topographic survey of the failure mass. Geotechnical investigation if not on file. Geotechnical consultant interprets root cause.
Re-design
Consultant produces remedial design. Typical components: regrade head scarp, soil nail / rock bolt the new geometry, install permanent horizontal drains, surface protection (shotcrete + erosion control), drainage at slope toe. We input on buildability.
Build & verify
Construction per design. Continuous monitoring during works. Post-completion monitoring (12-24 months) to verify FoS recovery. Defects period instrumentation.
What we usually find and fix.
Rainfall-induced shallow slide
Saturated soil mantle (1-3m depth) detached on a translational plane. Remedy: regrade, soil nail, surface protection, drainage. Most common Malaysian failure.
Deep-seated rotational
Failure surface 5-15m deep, often on weathered rock contact. Remedy: long soil nail / ground anchor, deep horizontal drains, possibly ground replacement. Larger scope.
Wedge / planar in rock
Discontinuity-controlled rock slide. Remedy: rock bolts to discontinuities, mesh drape, shotcrete to seal, scaling. Common in Pahang / Penang granite.
Retaining wall failure
RE wall, gabion, or RC wall has translated or rotated. Remedy: re-anchor (tieback or soil nail), re-key, repair facing, drain behind wall.
What pairs with remediation.
Horizontal drains →
Single most effective FoS gain when groundwater is the failure driver. Often phase-1 emergency.

Re-anchors the regraded geometry. Standard component of remediation works.
Read moreSlope monitoring →
Pre-remedial baseline + post-remedial verification. Mandatory on critical slopes.
