01 / What ESCP covers

Two windows: during construction, and after.

Construction-phase erosion control

Silt fences, sediment basins, temporary turfing, geotextile blankets, runoff diversion. Required by DOE/JAS during the earthworks and slope construction window.

Permanent surface protection

Vegetated mat, hydroseeding, shotcrete (for stabilized faces), riprap on flow lines. Designed for the slope's design life through Malaysia's monsoon climate.

Drainage network

Chute drains, U/V-drains, catch pits, sediment traps. Channels surface runoff to controlled discharge points without scouring the slope.

Post-monsoon assessment and repair

Gully repair, drainage restoration, re-vegetation after monsoon-driven surface erosion. Standard work on slope maintenance contracts.

02 / Methods we deploy

Selection by gradient, geometry, and flow.

03 / FAQ

Environmental consultants and developers usually ask:

What is ESCP? +
Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, DOE/JAS-required submission for earthworks and slope projects.
Methods? +
Hydroseeding, vegetated mats, silt fences, sediment traps, chute drains, geotextile blankets, riprap. Selection by gradient and flow.
DOE / JAS compliant? +
Yes. Designed for DOE, JAS, DID, and local authority specifications.
Permanent vs construction-phase? +
Construction: silt fences, sediment basins, temporary turfing. Permanent: vegetation, surface protection, drainage.
Post-monsoon repair? +
Yes, gully repair, drainage restoration, re-vegetation. Part of slope maintenance contracts.
04 / Materials & products

Erosion control materials we install.

Coir / jute / coconut mat

Biodegradable erosion control blanket. 700-1000 GSM. Holds soil during vegetation establishment (3-6 months), then biodegrades. Standard for new cut slopes.

Synthetic turf reinforcement (TRM)

3D polymer mesh permanent reinforcement. Long-term root reinforcement for high-velocity drainage channels and steep grass slopes. 20+ year life.

Hydroseeding

Slurry of seed + mulch + tackifier sprayed at high pressure. Establishes Vetiver or local grass species in 2-4 weeks. Used on cut faces post-soil-nail.

Silt fence + sediment trap

Geotextile + steel post barriers around perimeter and at low points during construction. Filters runoff. ESCP-required during earthworks phase.

Riprap / gabion mattress

Hard armouring at culvert outlets, chute drain inverts, channel bends. Sized per design discharge velocity. Long-life.

Geocell / Geoweb

3D cellular confinement filled with topsoil/aggregate. Steep slopes (1V:1H to 1V:0.5H) where vegetation alone won't hold.

05 / DOE / ESCP compliance

What regulators require.

The Department of Environment (DOE) requires an Erosion & Sediment Control Plan (ESCP) submission for any project disturbing more than the threshold area (typically 1 ha for hill-land developments). Our scope:

PhaseDeliverables
Pre-worksESCP narrative + drawings + BMP layout aligned with the consultant's submission
ConstructionSilt fence, sediment basins, diversion drains installed before earthworks. Continuous BMP maintenance through monsoon. ESCP-compliant runoff discharge.
ClosurePermanent surface protection (vegetation, hard armouring), permanent drainage, sediment basin decommissioning, DOE final inspection.

For sites in Penang Hill, Genting, Cameron Highlands, additional MBPP / Pahang state hill-slope guidelines apply on top of DOE.

07 / Related capabilities

Erosion control plus the slope itself.
