01 / What we install

Five soil nail installation applications.

Hillside cut slope soil nailing

Standard hillside township and commercial development cut. Nail length 8-15 m typical, spacing 1.5-2.5 m grid, inclination 10-15 degrees below horizontal. Drilled-and-grouted Y20 to Y32 high-yield steel or self-drilling hollow bar (R32-R76) for collapsing-ground conditions. Shotcrete and welded mesh facing.

Distressed slope remediation

Existing slope showing visible movement, cracks, post-monsoon distress. 24-48 hour emergency mobilisation Klang Valley. Investigation tests + interim stabilisation + permanent works execution. Pairs with horizontal drains where groundwater is the failure driver.

Top-down basement excavation

Commercial basements, MRT and LRT cut-and-cover stations, dense urban hillside basements. Basement perimeter cut in 1.5-2 m lifts top-down with nails and shotcrete before each lift below. Avoids sheet pile vibration that damages neighbours.

Road widening at toe of cut

Federal road or expressway lane addition adjacent to existing cut slope. Sequential staged works with traffic management coordination, staged closures, night-shift mobilisation. Live-traffic working method, concrete barrier and hoarding deployment.

Bridge abutment soil nail wall

Permanent bridge abutment retention or toe stabilisation for highway and rail corridor widening. Higher working load (200-400 kN per nail), permanent DCP corrosion protection (double corrosion protection per BS 8006-2 Annex C), concrete panel facing for aesthetic.

02 / Crew structure

Who turns up on site.

RoleResponsibility
Site engineer (1)Engineer-in-charge, consultant liaison, daily diary, exception decisions, test data review
Site supervisor (1)Crew foreman, daily progress, safety briefing, toolbox talks
Drilling rig operator (1-2)Drill rig operation, hole alignment, drilling-mud control, depth measurement
Bar handling crew (2-3)Bar storage, cutting, centraliser fitting, insertion into drilled hole
Grouting crew (1-2)Cementitious grout mixing, pressure grouting through grout pipe, grout return monitoring
Shotcrete crew (3-4, on facing days)Mesh installation, shotcrete spraying (wet-mix or dry-mix), curing
Testing crew (when scheduled)Load cell calibration, pullout test execution, creep monitoring, data logging
Traffic management crew (live carriageway works)Cone deployment, signage, lane closure, traffic flagging per authority TM plan

Standard crew runs 8-15 personnel depending on scope. Multi-crew mobilisation possible for tight programmes or large sites (over 5,000 m squared face area).

07 / FAQ

Consultants and main contractors usually ask:

What CIDB grade and categories do you hold? +
CIDB Grade G7 (highest contractor grade, no tender value limit). Categories B04 (specialised building works), CE01 (earthworks), CE08 (slope works), CE21 (geotechnical), M15 (mechanical). PPK Registration 0120220822-WP104845, valid 22 August 2022 to 13 December 2027. ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
Can I verify your CIDB grade independently? +
Yes. CIDB Malaysia operates a public contractor verification portal at cidb.gov.my. Search by company name (Infraconcrete Construction Sdn Bhd) or PPK Registration Number (0120220822-WP104845). Returns current grade, categories, validity, and registration status independent of any contractor representation.
How fast can you mobilise an emergency soil nail crew? +
Klang Valley: same-day site survey, 24-48 hours from instruction to first crew on site. Other West Malaysia: 24-72 hours. East Malaysia: project-specific 3-5 days. Emergency mobilisation has a premium but is routine for active slope-distress events. Coordination with JKR or LLM for federal corridor emergency works.
Do you install only or also design? +
Both routes available. Install-only contracts: we install per consultant's design, on-site QA per BS 8006-2 / JKR-SPJ. Design-and-build contracts: Infraconcrete carries the geotechnical engineering responsibility plus installation; PI insurance available on project basis. See /soil-nailing-design-and-build-malaysia/ for the design-and-build route.
What insurance do you carry? +
Public liability, workmen's compensation, project-specific Contractor's All Risk (CAR), Erection All Risk (EAR), Professional Indemnity (PI) for design-and-build contracts. Cover limits scaled to project value. Certificate copies provided with contract documentation.
How is your install rate? +
Site-dependent. Indicative day rates per single crew on Malaysian residual soil: 8-15 nails per day per drilling rig depending on nail length. For a typical 8m nail at 2m grid, single crew installs 80-150 linear metres of nail per day plus shotcrete facing 20-40 m squared per day. Multi-crew for tight programmes.
Soil nail contractor vs slope contractor, what's the difference? +
Soil nail contractor: specialist in soil nailing technique only. Slope contractor: covers integrated slope stabilisation system (soil nailing + shotcrete + rock bolting + rockfall + retaining walls + horizontal drains + drainage + monitoring). Most Malaysian slope projects need multiple techniques; integrated slope contractor often coordinates better than soil-nail-only specialist plus separate slope contractor. Infraconcrete delivers both: standalone soil nail scope or integrated under one CIDB G7 contract.
