Woven geotextile in Malaysia.
Infraconcrete Construction Sdn Bhd supplies and installs woven geotextile across Malaysia. Three families: slit-film PP (separation, working platform, lowest cost), monofilament PP (where filtration plus tensile both matter), high-strength woven PET StrataTex HSR 50 to 1000 kN/m (basal reinforcement on soft ground, MSE wall reinforcement, reinforced soil slope). Sole appointed STRATA Geosystems Asia distributor in Malaysia through Starwall Sdn Bhd plus CIDB G7 installation crew. Manufacturer certificate of conformance per shipment, long-term design strength data per BS EN ISO 13431 for reinforcement grades.
Yarns interlaced on a loom for high tensile capacity.
Woven geotextile is a permeable textile fabric made by interlacing two perpendicular sets of yarns (warp running lengthwise, weft running widthwise) on an industrial loom. The interlocked weave gives high tensile strength per gram-per-square-metre at low elongation, with the directionality preserved in the finished fabric (machine direction MD and cross-machine direction CD). This makes woven geotextile the material of choice for reinforcement applications where the fabric must carry tensile load without elongating excessively, and for structural separation under heavy traffic.
Contrasts with nonwoven geotextile (random fibre orientation bonded by needle-punching, thermal bonding, or chemical bonding), which has higher elongation, better in-plane drainage, and is used for filtration, drainage, and protection rather than reinforcement.
Slit-film, monofilament, high-strength PET.
Slit-film woven PP
Polypropylene flat ribbon yarns (1-3 mm wide, less than 0.1 mm thick) woven into the fabric. Cheapest woven family. Mass typical 100-300 gsm, tensile 8-25 kN/m. Lower drainage capacity (flat ribbons block in-plane water flow at the weave). Used for separation under roads and working platforms, light basal mat under low embankments, weed barrier. Most-supplied woven product in Malaysian construction by volume.
Monofilament woven PP
Polypropylene round filament yarns (0.3-0.5 mm diameter) woven into the fabric. Mid-cost. Mass typical 200-400 gsm. Better drainage than slit-film (round filaments leave gaps at the weave for in-plane water flow). Used where structural separation plus filtration are both needed: river training underlay, coastal works, behind retaining walls with high water table.
High-strength woven PET (StrataTex HSR)
Polyester (PET) yarns with PVC coating, woven into high-strength fabric. Mass 250-1200 gsm. Tensile 50-1000 kN/m. Used for basal reinforcement on soft ground (embankment over peat, soft marine clay), MSE wall reinforcement layers, reinforced soil slope reinforcement, geotextile-encased stone columns, geotextile-wrap-faced reinforced soil walls. Long-term design strength data per BS EN ISO 13431 included with every order.

Where woven geotextile actually goes.
1. Basal reinforcement on soft ground
StrataTex HSR PET 100-1000 kN/m at the base of embankments over peat (Sarawak/Sabah/Pahang interior), soft marine clay (Klang Valley, Selangor coast, Pasir Gudang), or soft alluvium. Resists lateral spreading at the embankment toe. Pairs with PVD for accelerated consolidation. Design per BS 8006-1 Annex A or Rowe-Soderman 1985 for very soft ground.
2. MSE wall reinforcement layers
StrataTex HSR PET 50-200 kN/m horizontal layers in the reinforced backfill, vertical spacing 0.4-0.8 m, length 0.7H to 1.0H. Faced with modular block, precast panel, gabion, or wrapped geotextile. Design per BS 8006-1, FHWA-NHI-10-024.
3. Reinforced soil slope (RSS)
StrataTex HSR PET reinforcement for slope angles 30-70 degrees (steeper than the soil's natural angle of repose). Slip-circle factor of safety analysis with geotextile tensile capacity added on slip surface.
4. Road and working platform separation
Slit-film woven PP 150-300 gsm between subbase aggregate and weak subgrade. Prevents fines migration and aggregate intrusion. Cheapest woven option, most volume-supplied family in Malaysian highway and township platform works.
5. Coastal and river training underlay
Monofilament woven PP under rip-rap or gabion mattress at coastal and river-training works. Allows water flow while preventing fines wash-out under wave or current action. Pairs with gabion wall and geocell facing.
6. Bridge approach embankment reinforcement
StrataTex HSR PET 100-300 kN/m in the approach embankment leading to a bridge abutment, often combined with PVD for accelerated consolidation and with modular block MSE wall facing at the abutment. Federal corridor scope.
