StrataWall EC in Malaysia.
StrataWall EC is the STRATA Geosystems Earth-Concrete reinforced soil wall (RE wall, MSE wall) system. Proprietary connection uses the shear strength of the concrete facing directly: no rebar for facing connection, no rear anchorage steel. Saves approximately 2.5 kg per square metre of steel relative to rebar-connected systems. No outward movement under design loading per STRATA technical data; maintains batter in original form. Designed to BS 8006-1, FHWA-NHI-10-024, AASHTO. IIT-tested and approved. Supplied in Malaysia by Starwall Sdn Bhd (sole STRATA Geosystems Asia distributor). Designed and installed by Infraconcrete, CIDB G7 + ISO 9001:2015.
Earth-Concrete connection. Six features.
- Shear-strength connection. Unique connection design utilises the shear strength of the concrete facing directly. No additional steel required for facing connection.
- No rear anchorage steel. The proprietary detail eliminates the rear anchorage bar typical of rebar-connected systems.
- 2.5 kg per square metre steel saving. Across a 1,000 square metre wall, that is 2,500 kg of steel avoided.
- All design codes strictly adhered to. BS 8006-1 Code of practice for strengthened/reinforced soils, FHWA-NHI-10-024 Design and Construction of MSE Walls, AASHTO LRFD.
- High-quality geogrids. STRATA geogrids undergo exhaustive testing at internationally reputed laboratories with proven creep performance and over-100-year design life.
- Constructed in challenging conditions. Installation is quick and easy without rebar coordination; fewer trades on site, faster cycle time, viable in constrained access or weather windows.
- No outward movement. Per STRATA technical data, no outward movement has been noticed in reinforced soil walls constructed with StrataWall EC; the system helps the wall maintain its batter in the original form.
- IIT-tested. Tested and approved by the Indian Institute of Technology.
Where StrataWall EC fits.
- Federal expressway retaining structures: PLUS, LLM, ELITE, KKR walls for grade separation, interchange ramps, embankment containment.
- Federal road and state road retaining walls.
- Railway corridor wall structures: ECRL, MRT, LRT alignment retaining walls.
- Hillside development cut and fill retaining walls.
- Bridge approach walls.
- Industrial retaining structures: warehouse loading dock walls, container yard walls, port hardstanding edges.
- Architectural urban retaining walls where facing finish matters.
Typical height range. 3 to 25 m. Heights above 15 m require enhanced foundation design and may benefit from terraced wall configuration. Heights below 3 m may be more economically delivered through gabion or modular block alternatives depending on facing requirement.
Three engagement routes.
| Route | Scope |
|---|---|
| Material supply only | Facing panels, geogrid reinforcement layers, connection hardware. Site team installs to STRATA design and method statement. |
| Design + supply | STRATA technical desk plus Infraconcrete engineering desk on wall design (height, batter, geogrid layout, foundation), drawings, BoQ, specification. |
| Design and build | Combined contract with Infraconcrete CIDB G7. Single accountability from design to operational wall. |
See MSE Wall design-and-build Malaysia for the broader RE wall service hub including non-STRATA system options.
