Bandar Serendah, Hulu Selangor.
Bandar Serendah is a township in the Hulu Selangor district of Selangor, north of Rawang. Our group delivered geotechnical and geosynthetic-related scope on hillside township development in this area. The project illustrates the application of slope-engineering and retaining capability on township-scale hillside developments outside the immediate Klang Valley urban core.
Hillside township in northern Selangor.
Bandar Serendah sits in the northern Selangor development belt along the North-South Expressway corridor, in a part of the state where residential and commercial development opens onto more undulating terrain than the central Klang Valley flatland. Township platforms in this terrain require platform-formation earthworks combined with slope retaining works and slope drainage management. The Hillside Development Guidelines applicable to local-council-approved hillside developments shape design and approval.
Geotechnical and slope works.
- Bulk earthworks and platform formation across the hillside terrain
- MSE walls and other retaining systems at platform boundaries and adjacent to township roads
- Reinforced Soil Slope (RSS) systems with vegetated facing where vertical retention was not warranted
- Drainage including slope-side drains and sub-soil drains
- Erosion-control measures on cut and fill slope faces
What hillside townships demand.
Hillside township developments in Selangor sit at the intersection of platform-formation earthworks and slope engineering. The Hillside Development Guidelines applied by Selangor local councils require slope classification, drainage management, and where applicable monitoring. Geosynthetic-based systems (MSE wall with modular block face, RSS with geocell vegetated facing) align well with the regulatory framework because they combine retaining function with controllable drainage and vegetated facing.
